(Center, TX) – Focused Care at Center, a long term care and short term rehab community is recognizing two of its own for their years of dedication and commitment to caring for seniors. Resident care providers Sharon Watts and Lisa Fleming were presented with plaques for their service on site at the community. Focused Care at Center was recently awarded the Nursing Home and Skilled Nursing Quality Improvement Award for 2018 by the TMF Health Quality Institute for promoting quality improvement activities and a quality long term care culture.

“Both Sharon and Lisa have been excellent and professional care providers but what’s additionally noteworthy is that they are truly kind and compassionate people,” said Jessica Davis, Executive of Operations at Focused Care at Center. “It is easy to write out a mission statement and verbally make a commitment to caring for our seniors and it’s quite something else to really carry out and live that mission and commitment. Both Sharon and Lisa have dedicated decades to taking care of our residents and as they both appreciate, when we make lives meaningful for others, our own become that much more meaningful. Focused Care at Center is proud to have these fine women as a part of our team.”

Watts became a part of the long term care community 34 years ago and noted that she believes God chose the community for her. “My father, who’s currently a resident here,” Watts said, “always said God uses who he chooses and chooses who he uses. That’s why I believe I’m here and have stayed so many years. The residents became just like family and it is my pleasure and calling to provide compassionate, loving care to our residents promoting optimum health, safety, and quality care. They are truly the heart of the matter.”

Fleming began as a volunteer in a long term care community in 1973 when she was just 12 years old. Her love of caring for others blossomed from there into a nursing career when she graduated from Panola College in 1983. She says the most rewarding part of her work is simply “being able to help others.”
